(iCandy) Lilah's Baby Quilt

My sweet friend, Rachelle, that I've known since high school is having her first baby next month.  I'm so excited for her; she will be the most adoring mom to this new, sweet baby girl.
{I'm hoping she doesn't read this post before I see her next week}
But, I wanted to make her something that you can't by at a store, that would be personal, and fun for her to have...and that she would really like!
So...I quilted.
This fabric is from a Moda line called Vintage Modern
Her colors for her beautiful nursery are turquoise, lots of whites and some bright pink.  I'll share her schematics if she'll let me (but I didn't want to ask permission, because I'd have to tell her what I was posting about!)

I had a charm pack that I thought would go pretty well with the rest of her nursery...if it's not a perfect match, I'm not going to sweat it, but I tried.
I got some more practice with my freehand-stippling/swirly quilting method...I'm so not perfect at it, but it's fun, and the more I practice, the better I get.

  The fun part, though, I added at the end, so they know I made it especially for her:  I tried to quilt baby Lilah's name in the corner...{I'm horrible at cursive, but I think if you look, you can see it!}

 I hope Rachelle and baby Lilah will use this as a tummy-time quilt while she's a baby, and when she gets a little older, for a dolly quilt while she plays.
love you, Rachelle, I can't wait to meet this sweet little girl!

  3. Oh, so beautiful! I am sure she is going to LOVE it. I love the hounds tooth in there... And the quilting of her little name is too precious.

  4. Such a sweet, sweet gift. She's going to have it forever. I have the quilt my grandmother made me and my teens are very protective of the quilts they received as baby gifts. (And the swirly stuff is looking great! I think that's so hard to get the hang of. Ask me and my tears of frustration how I know.)
